It's one of the most unique eateries in the already edgy 3rd, located directly behind 404 Restaurant and next to Andy Wahloo that all share the same owner. Created by Mourad Mazouz, the man behind such eateries as London's Momo and Sketch, Derriere is an altogether different sort of eatery that's as original in its design as anywhere you've ever eater. An ordinary Paris apartment, arranged within a lounge, dining room, bedroom, inspires the space and boudoir decorated in a mix of boho and textured eclectic styles. Design elements like a banquette built from a bedside, drawing room of mismatched aristocratic chairs and unexpected ping-pong table make for a bold statement and fun dinner in the middle of the Marais.
The Food
A simple, ingredient-driven French menu of Morroan influences like a chicken liver or foie gras terrine, salad of young leaves or salmon marinated with horseradish sauce. Main course is a medley of leg of pork with mushrooms, roasted duck breast or sea bass filled with grilled vegetables. Keep in mind, Derriere is about the fun atmosphere and better for visuals like an amazing menu and dinner setting than an actual culinary right of passage.
